See what happens at each stage, what you need to provide and how funding partners assess your application.
Step 1 of 4
A short form: who you are, what you are funding and roughly how much. Nothing to upload at this stage, and no credit enquiry is run: we only need enough to know which of the sixteen facilities to assess you against.
Open a category to see what sits inside it. More than one option may suit your needs — eligibility depends on the funding partner's assessment. The matcher narrows it down in four questions.
Advance up to 80% of an invoice issued to a private-sector customer, with the balance released when they settle.
Advance up to 70% of an invoice issued to a government department, municipality or public entity instead of waiting out the payment cycle.
Receive an advance against eligible invoices through a factoring arrangement. Collection responsibilities and any recourse if the customer does not pay depend on the agreement.
Unsecured funding sized off historical and projected turnover, repaid daily or weekly in line with trading cash flow.
Draw and repay against an approved limit secured by fixed property, with interest charged only on what is drawn.
Monthly interest only, with the capital settled at the end of the term. Available secured or unsecured.
Why us
Four reasons businesses come to us rather than approaching funders one at a time.
We've spent years building relationships with funders across South Africa. We know the types of businesses and funding needs they consider, and use that knowledge to identify suitable partners for your application.
We help you prepare your application, organise documents through DocuHub and understand what funders need. Our team coordinates questions and follow-ups with funding partners, so you know what is needed to move your application forward.
Applying through Mutualism is non-exclusive. You can explore finance elsewhere, compare any offers and choose whether to proceed. Submitting an application does not commit you to accepting a funding offer.
Our funding partners pay Mutualism only when a funding deal is completed through us. We help you understand the costs and conditions in any funding offer before you decide whether to accept it.
No single lender is best at everything. A government invoice, an imported container and a sale-and-leaseback are three different risks, and they are priced by three different kinds of funder.
We maintain a panel of banks, private credit funds and specialist lenders, and help match your situation to the right one. You deal with Mutualism throughout, and you only fill the application in once.
For secured overdrafts, asset finance and longer-dated facilities.
For property-backed and bridging transactions, and other deals that suit a private-credit structure.
Trade and inventory finance, supply chain platforms, government-debtor books and other niche risk.
Before you apply
These apply across most of the products, whoever ends up funding the deal.
Some funders may consider security owned by a director, trust or related entity, subject to owner consent and their requirements.
Most facilities are priced on the value and ownership of the security, plus your demonstrated ability to service the funding.
Unsecured, turnover-based facilities are fastest at 24 hours to five days. Asset-backed and property deals take twelve to fourteen days.
Evidence of having delivered similar contracts or orders before counts for a great deal, particularly on order and contract funding.
Nearly every funder on the panel starts with the same four documents. Get those together and you can apply for most of the sixteen products without gathering anything else.

A café owner, a butchery, a biscuit business now on supermarket shelves, funded on an asset, a kitchen upgrade or working capital to grow.
